WHILE PLANNING YOUR TRIP

It’s important to ALWAYS travel with travel insurance. Nowadays you should make sure it includes COVID coverage.

Booking approximately 6 months in advance seems to be the best option either for flight’s rates or Early Booking hotel deals. Of course you may find great last minute discounts but in general you may end up paying more than booking 6 months earlier.

Plans don’t always play out; even more so in current times where we have all been forced to adjust and reschedule our lives, so flexible booking terms are a must.

While planning your trip double check the traveling rules for your destination, including visas, vaccination, COVID related requirements, etc.

Learn about your destination so that you don’t miss a thing: It is really useful to find out in advance about best time to travel to each destination, what to do, where to eat and get inspired. You will find some of those tips below. Besides, our Social Media network will be a great source of inspiration.

When planning your trip, making sure to have at least one day off at home before you go back to your duties will be very helpful.

Make sure you bring more than one credit card to avoid any issue locally. It is also highly recommended to take with you enough cash at least for the first days, just in case you can’t find an ATM or credit cards are not accepted at some of the places you visit. This is even more important when traveling to Cuba because local businesses like restaurants or souvenir shops don’t accept cards.

Make sure you pack suitable clothes according to the weather at your destination, but keep in mind you will need to carry your luggage while traveling around, so try to avoid over packing. We suggest bringing a light jacket even if you’re visiting the hottest of countries; it tends to get chilly in the evenings and you may also need it on the plane and bus journeys that are typically cold from air conditioning. Don’t forget your sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and repellent lotion when traveling to the Caribbean. There are some other useful items we suggest you to include in your luggage:
  • Earplugs
  • Universal adapter
  • Power bank
  • Tissues
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Facemasks
  • One small towel
  • A small stock of medicines: apart of any medication you usually take, we suggest you to include paracetamol, flu tablets, tablets to help your tummy when issues arise due to food, plasters, antiseptic cream and a couple of bandages.  You may wish to put more or less in, but that tends to be a good start and will help you with any minor issues.

ON DESTINATION

  • Only carry what you need when sightseeing: Only take the bare essentials when you’re sightseeing. Leave all valuable objects (including documents) in your room’ safe. We suggest you to make a photocopy of your passport so that you take it when going out and you can leave the original document safe. With regards to health insurance documents and visa documents, make sure you have digital copies of those with you that are easily accessible.
  • Make your trip worth: eat local, support local businesses, get friendly with locals (such an amazing way to get real insight into what the country is like, rather than just what’s in the guidebooks) Bring Your Own Water Bottle With You
  • Learn common phrases in the language of the country you are visiting: You don’t need to know a lot, just basic, “hello”, “thank you”, “do you speak English”, tend to be useful and the locals really appreciate it.
  • When checking out at your hotel, make sure you take a look under the bed and inside all drawers

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

The best time to visit Panama is Dec-Apr, officially the dry season. If you’re not bothered by a bit of rain, consider travel during the rest of the year. These times can offer great value and allow you to experience several well-loved Panamanian events and festivals. Temperatures remain at a fairly constant high throughout the year, staying at an average of 30°C. On the Caribbean coast, there are short, heavy bursts of rain almost daily, while the Pacific coast has a pronounced wet season from May to November.

Activities play a key part in the decision about when to visit Panama. If you want to bask on golden sands or trek into the rainforest, you should travel during the dry season from December to April. Surfers prefer the rainy months from April to December when the best waves are unleashed along the coast. Divers and wildlife-spotters gather from August to September, when humpback whales, sharks and orcas congregate off the Pacific shoreline.

The best time to visit Cuba is between November and April because of the warm and dry weather. Temperatures hover between 25 and 30 degrees, with up to 10 hours of sunshine a day. May to October is the so-called wet season. The months of June, July, September and October experience the highest levels of rainfall. The entire Caribbean basin is affected by this tropical rainy period, but don’t be put off visiting during these months. Showers tend to be short and sharp, so you’ll still be able to enjoy warm, sunny spells throughout your holiday, especially in the mornings. If you’re ready to experience the island, but you’d prefer to avoid the crowds, then May and June, or September and October are ideal. Not only are the top sightseeing spots and beaches less busy, but you can plan the same holiday on a lower budget.
