Overview
Holguín is known as the city of parks and the scenery of Las Romerías de Mayo, the annual festival of Ibero-American culture. It has beautiful beaches such as Guardalavaca Beach, Esmeralda, Pesquero and Don Lino.<br />
Guardalavaca is famous for its endless beaches of fine sand, including those of Esmeralda and Pesquero. In its crystal clear waters you can find coral reefs with abundant marine species. In a deep bay west of the city, dolphins and sea lions perform shows at the Cayo Naranjo aquarium. Inside, the Chorro de Maíta museum includes exhibitions of skeletons and artifacts from the pre-Columbian towns of the region.<br />
There is a unique vegetation and fauna in Guardalavaca with a great variety of birds including the national bird Tocororo, woodpeckers, parrots, cateyes and macaws.
