This trip is a great way to discover a part of the beautiful Sierra del Escambray mountain range, which stretches across the provinces of Cienfuegos, Villa Clara and Sancti Spiritus. A steep 30 minute bumpy ride in a jeep takes you out of Trinidad up to the fresh, clean air of Topes de Collantes. The hills are covered in thick, tropical vegetation and there are numerous waterfalls throughout the area.
Once at the mountain area, you will meet with a local guide at the park desk to begin the walk, descending to the CaburnĂ trail. Admire local flora and fauna alongside the Vega Grande River, until you reach the clear waters of the impressive CaburnĂ waterfall, the 75 metre fall being the largest in Cuba. The total hike is approximately 4 kilometres but the path is quite steep so it will be harder work on the way back! Lunch is included at a small local restaurant and you will then take a transfer back to your accommodation in Trinidad.
