You will visit one of the most beautiful areas in Cuba where the world’s finest cigar tobacco is grown.
The terrace of Los Jazmines Hotel affords a magnificent panoramic view of Valle de Vinales. Enjoy a cocktail (included) while taking in the view of the limestone outcrops, known as ‘mogotes’, rising almost vertically from the valley floor, which is a patchwork of fertile plantations of tobacco, grains and tropical fruit – all still ploughed by oxen – and tobacco drying houses with steep-sided palm roofs.
You will then drive through the picturesque country town of Vinales, passing classic cars and horse drawn carts on your way to the Mural de Prehistoria where the supposed history of evolution is painted in rather garishly bright colours on the side of a mogote – a typical Cuban attraction!
Vinales is well known for a large network of caves and you will usually visit one of these beautiful caverns after lunch. The most common cave to visit is Cueva del Indio, which involves a gentle walk and a short boat ride before returning to Havana.
Lunch is included in a local private restaurant.
